ChatGPT now remembers everything you've ever told it.

TL;DR

ChatGPT’s new memory upgrade means it now remembers all your past conversations—not just what you asked it to save. This allows it to offer more personalized and consistent support across chats. You can view, manage, or disable memory anytime via settings.

Currently rolling out to Pro and Plus users (but not yet in the UK/EU). Great for business owners who want smarter, faster, and more tailored AI assistance—just be mindful of what you share.

An upgrade to the memory feature

This might be one of the most exciting (or terrifying?) updates yet.

OpenAI has just rolled out a major update to ChatGPT’s Memory feature—and it’s a big one. Think of it like your digital assistant just developed a near-perfect memory.

What it means

Previously, ChatGPT remembered things you specifically asked it to remember—like your name, your business focus, or how you like your reports structured.

Now?

It’s actively remembering everything from your past conversations to make future responses more tailored, personal, and relevant.

Here’s how it works now:

  • Saved Memories: You can still manually ask ChatGPT to remember specific facts.

  • Chat History Insights: This is the new part. ChatGPT now pulls insights from past chats (even ones you didn’t mark as memorable) to better help you going forward.

Wait, so..

The Pros?

  • Consistency: No need to repeat your context or business background every time.

  • Smarter Assistance: From strategy discussions to draft reviews, ChatGPT now knows how you work.

  • Personalisation: The more you use it, the better it becomes at aligning with your voice, your tone, and your goals.

The Catch?

Transparency & Control OpenAI knows this can be a bit Big Brother-esque. That’s why they’ve made it clear:

  • You can opt out entirely or just toggle off chat history/memory.

  • You can view and delete saved memories at any time (Settings > Personalisation > Manage memories).

  • If you want a one-off, no-memory chat? Use the Temporary Chat feature (little dotted cloud in the corner).

Who Can Use It?

  • Available now to Pro users ($200/month).

  • Rolling out soon to Plus users ($20/month).

  • Not yet available in the UK, EU, and a few other countries due to tighter regulations.

This update nudges AI closer to being a true personal assistant—one that doesn’t just respond to you, but genuinely knows you.

Is this the beginning of AI that evolves alongside you throughout your business journey?

OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman seems to think so:
“AI systems that get to know you over your life, and become extremely useful and personalised.”

It’s a big leap—but also a clear reminder of just how fast things are moving.

So… What Should You Do Next?

If you’re already using ChatGPT in your business—great. Explore the memory settings. Play around with it.

Just maybe don’t tell it everything at once. You know… just in case. 😉
